Breaking News: Strong winds stop Air Canada flight landing

The daily Air Canada flight between Bermuda and Toronto was unable to land in Bermuda today due to unsafe weather conditions.

The flight was forced to return to Toronto where it is scheduled to refuel and replace its crew before attempting the trip again this evening.

“There was a threat of lightning and heavy rain, so, after not being able to land, the plane returned to Toronto,” said Jonathan Howes, CEO of Bermuda Press Holdings, who was on the flight and spoke to this newspaper from Toronto.

“The pilot and the staff did an excellent job, everybody cheered when we landed,” he said.

The flight which was scheduled to arrive in Bermuda at 12.05 p.m. will now leave Toronto at approximately 3.30 p.m and is due to arrive in Bermuda at 7.05 p.m. today.
