In Magistrates' Court on Tuesday the Crown requested that Hayward appear in court again next week in connection with another court application.

FIRST TIME OFFENDER GETS BREAK: A Devonshire man caught with drugs in an increased penalty zone was charged with a lesser offence when he appeared in Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Andre James, 23, pleaded guilty to being in possession of 1.45 grams of cocaine in Par La Ville Park on October 15.

James was ordered to pay a maximum $1,000 fine. In handing down his sentence, magistrate Edward King pointed out that Police had given the young man a break. He said the fine should have been higher because the offence occurred in an increase penalty zone.
