Facility faces upgrade as demand for water continues to grow

Government is to update its water treatment facilities in a bid to keep up with demand. Works & Engineering Minster Ashfield DeVent made the announcement in the House of Assembly on Monday.

Mr. DeVent said that the Tudor Hill facility will be running a reverse osmosis plant by the summer while the same equipment will be operational at the Tynes Bay facility by the summer of 2007.

The Minister said the upgrades were needed because many of the Island?s water collection facilities were up to 80 years old, and leaking pipes had led to a rise in the amount of water went through daily.
