Woman awakens to find half-nude man in her bedroom
Police officers carried out door-to-door inquiries in the hope that residents of an apartment complex in Paget could hold vital clues about a sexual assault reported to have occurred there.
The officers told householders at Paget Townhouses, off Ord Road, that a female resident there had woken at around 1 a.m. on Saturday to find a man on top of her in her bedroom. The culprit is said to have been naked from the waist down, and wearing a hooded top.
A Police spokesman remained tight-lipped about the inquiry when spoke with him about the house-calls, stating only that officers had responded to a report at 1.10 a.m. that a man had been found inside a Paget residence, and that inquiries are underway.
Teens hurt in cycle collision
Two teenagers were injured when their auxiliary cycles collided on North Shore Road, Hamilton, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police were called to the scene, near the junction with Abbott?s Cliff Road, after the incident at 12.50 a.m. One auxiliary cycle had been travelling east on North Shore Road, with the other travelling in the opposite direction.
The Police believe that as the vehicles approached the junction with Abbott?s Cliff Road, the rider of the cycle travelling west lost control while attempting to negotiate a right hand bend, colliding with the cycle travelling east.
Both cycles received front end damage as a result. The rider of the cycle travelling east, a 17-year-old from St. George?s, sustained a broken right wrist, minor head abrasions and a bruised right ankle. The other rider, a 17-year-old from Devonshire, sustained injuries to his right ankle and right shoulder.
Both victims were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment, but their injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Police inquiries into the incident are underway.
Motorcyclist moved to general ward
A man who suffered serious head injuries in a road accident on Friday has been moved out of the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward Memorial Hospital, and on to a general ward.
The victim, a 43-year-old Warwick man, was on a motorcycle travelling west on Harbour Road, Paget, when he was involved in a collision with a car travelling in the opposite direction at around 7.35 p.m.
The driver of the car was not hurt, and the condition of the injured motorcyclist was reported yesterday to be stable.
Hunt on for club attacker
A man suffered a laceration to the back of his head after being attacked by a young man wielding a bottle on Saturday night.
Police were called to the incident at the Southampton Rangers Club on South Road in Southampton at 11.25 p.m. When they arrived, the victim, a 38 year old Southampton man told them that he had earlier seen a young man take a chair from inside the club and put it outside to sit on.
The victim told the suspect that the chair belonged inside the club not outside, and an argument took place. As the victim picked up the chair to put it back inside, he has reported that the suspect struck him in the back of the head with a bottle, causing him to fall to the ground. The suspect then escaped.
The injured man was taken to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment for the laceration to his head, and swelling to his face, but was later released. He has described the suspect as a dark skinned male, six feet, two inches tall and of slim build. He is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s.
Thief interrupted during burglary
A burglar was caught red-handed going through a sleeping man?s belongings, but managed to escape with $150 after being spotted on Saturday night.
Police were called to a house at North Shore Road, Pembroke, at 11.40 p.m. where they were told by a man how he had been inside the property ten minutes earlier and had gone to investigate a noise.
When he checked his housemate?s bedroom, he saw an unknown man going through the sleeping man?s belongings. He shouted at the suspect, awaking his housemate and a brief struggle ensued between the three men.
The suspect managed to escape on foot with a black leather wallet containing $150 in cash and personal items, but the complainants were not injured in the struggle.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. .
Motorcycle cop injured
A Policeman suffered a broken leg when the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a car at a road junction in Devonshire.
The Police officer was travelling west along Middle Road at 7.40 p.m. on Wednesday when he was involved in a crash with a car that was turning onto Middle Road at its junction with Tee Street.
As a result the 40 year-old cop broke his leg and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The front of the motorcycle was severely damaged in the collision, as was the front of the car.
The car driver, a 41-year-old Hamilton Parish woman, was not injured and was ticketed for driving without due care and attention. Inquiries into the incident are continuing.
