Breaking News: Bermudian dies from H1N1 virus

A Bermudian died from the H1N1 virus last year, Government revealed this afternoon.In an update on the virus — also known as swine flu — Government today disclosed that two Bermudians died from influenza last year. At least one death was confirmed as H1N1.It was not stated whether the deaths occurred in Bermuda or abroad.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Cann said since testing for H1N1 was initiated in May, there have been 25 confirmed cases of H1N1 on the Island. Eleven people suspected of having the virus were hospitalised.
Dr. Cann also confirmed that cases of 2009 H1N1 influenza continue to be reported on the Island.
