Breaking News: Causeway to close at midnight
The Causeway will close from midnight tonight (Wednesday February 10) and is due to re-open at 9 a.m. tomorrow as severe weather buffets Bermuda, Government announced this evening.
According to the Bermuda Weather Service severe and unsettled weather conditions will remain in effect this evening and tomorrow, when gusts are forecast to reach more than 50 knots.
This afternoon a decision was made by the Emergency Measures Organisation (EMO) to close the Causeway from midnight to 9 a.m. tomorrow. It will be closely monitored by the Police and the Ministry of Works and Engineering.
It is anticipated that the storm force winds, which will reach gusts of hurricane force, will subside around midday tomorrow. All Government offices will be open for business tomorrow.
