Breaking News: Police arrest suspected prolific offender
A suspected prolific priority offender wanted in connection with firearms offences was caught this afternoon by Police.
His arrest came 90 minutes after an armed siege ended at a house in Pembroke where he was believed to have been holed up.
The suspect was seen entering the home by two officers at 10 a.m. The officers called for back up and it is now believed that the man escaped out the back while officers waited for reinforcements.
The heavily armed officers repeatedly called for the man to pick up a cell phone and warned him that they were coming in.
Approximately six officers, along with the canine unit, entered the home at 1 p.m. and found no one was inside.
A Police spokesman said: “We had confirmation that he was there. We went through the options, we wanted to give the suspect an opportunity to come out. When we entered no-one was in the house and no firearms were found.”
It is not yet known where the man was arrested at 2.30 p.m.
