Residents are being warned to expect daytime outages as Belco seeks to repair equipment battered by the winter storms.

Work crews will be out between February 25 and April 1, repairing overhead lines and equipment.

A company spokeswoman said: “Belco wishes to advise residents that during this period, there will be scattered daytime outages.

“Power must be shut down, so that crews can work safely to re-tension overhead lines, erect new poles and replace equipment.

“As crews will be moving from job to job, Belco cannot forecast more than a day ahead where and when outages will be required. However, every effort will be made to minimise duration, and commercial customers will be called.”
