Breaking News: Road crash victim named

A 26-year-old motorcyclist last night became the third person killed on Bermuda’s roads in six days.

Christopher Alves, from Pembroke, is said to have crashed into a stationary truck on Knapton Hill, in the area of Harrington Hundreds Road, Smith’s, at about 9.45 p.m.

A Police spokesman said: "Mr. Alves sustained serious head injuries and was treated at the scene by EMTs before being rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. However, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later and was pronounced dead by an on call physician at 10.20 p.m."

Last Saturday, 22-year-old father Delmont Browne was killed in an accident while on Monday former Assistant Police Commissioner, James McMaster, 78, also died in a crash. Both those incidents happened in Paget.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about the collision to contact P.c. Ian Taitt on 295-0011.
