Taxis are to be subjected to regular checks in a crackdown to ensure they are using their GPS systems.
And if they are not — they could given a fine of $1,400 a day for every day they are not using the system.
The move was announced this afternoon by Premier and Transport Minister Ewart Brown who said traffic officers will be implementing more aggressive enforcement measures.
He added: “It is our goal to ensure that residents and visitors recieve the best service for their transportation needs.
“We feel these amendments and subsequent enforcement measures move us closer to this goal and the overall goal of general compliance with the laws of Bermuda.”
