Delegation addresses UN
A delegation from the the Bermuda Government has addressed the United Nations for the first time in the Island?s political history, according to a official Press statement released last night.
The Sustainable Development Project Team, led by newly recruited English expert Ross Andrews, travelled to New York earlier this week to meet with members of the UN?s Commission on Sustainable Development and explain the Island?s approach to the increasingly vital topic.
As a colony, Bermuda is not permitted to speak to such organisations without the approval of the British Government ? approval which was apparently forthcoming in this instance.
Bermuda is attending ?to gain experience and learn lessons from other countries, many of which face similar challenges to Bermuda? the Press release said.
The Project Team, consisting of Mr. Andrews, Erica Smith, Melinda Williams, Leila Wadson and Charles Tucker will return to the Island on Monday.
