Hamilton Lions Club plans musical evening
The Hamilton Lions Club is organising a Musical Evening on March 24 to raise funds for Project Action and say goodbye to two teachers the Bermuda School of Music.
The evening will have performances by a number of musicians who teach at the Bermuda School of Music and will include jazz, Latin and classical favourites.
The performers include 2004 Bermuda Idol runner-up Joy Barnum and three pianists: Clare Butler, Nick Curror and Olga Zeidel. There will also be Ron Lightborne on trumpet. This will be the last concert Ms Butler and Mr. Curror perform in Bermuda before they leave the Island.
Tickets to the concert are $25 and include a chance to win numerous prizes in a raffle draw. Among the prizes are trips abroad, a seven day cruise and gold green fees. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased for $20 and children under the age of 18 can buy tickets for $10.
Tickets can be purchased at the Bermuda School of Music, on Par-La-Ville Road, or at the Old Colony Club. Sponsors for the concert, which is being held at the Ruth Seaton James Auditorium this Saturday, include Market Place, Belco and BTC.
Proceeds will go to Project Action. The organisation started out as a door-to-door Island-wide bus service for rest home residents and has grown to include any senior citizen that needs a ride, and also the physically handicapped of any age.
Ms Butler and Mr. Curror said they wanted to give back to the community before they left and have worked with the Hamilton Lions Club, sponsors and fellow musicians to pull off what is expected to be a light hearted and enjoyable evening for all ages.
