Man flown to US after suffering heart attack at accident scene
A man was flown to America for medical treatment after suffering a heart attack at the scene of a road collision on Sunday.
Police were called to the incident on Middle Road, Paget, near the junction with Ord Road at 5.35 p.m. A Police spokesman said: "It appears that a silver Mitsubishi station wagon was travelling east when the driver, a 61-year-old Warwick man, lost control and crossed into the westbound lane, colliding head-on with a silver Peugeot station wagon."
The spokesman said it was unclear whether the man suffered the heart attack before or after the collision. He was initially treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital but was flown to Boston yesterday morning for further treatment. Neither Police nor medics would reveal which hospital he had gone to, so his condition last night could not be ascertained.
The driver of the Peugeot, a 56-year-old woman from St George's, suffered a deep laceration to her right thigh. She was said to be in a stable condition on a general ward at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital yesterday evening.
