Murder trial jurors selected

The first day of the long-awaited murder trial of Andre Kirk Everett Hypolite was hit with delays as it took four hours to select a jury yesterday.

The reason for the delay was that the pool of potential jurors spent the morning in Supreme Court One waiting for legal arguments concerning another trial to finish.

However, when the pool was released from the other court at 1 p.m. it only took 30 minutes to select a six-man, six-woman jury.

Shortly before the jury was released at around 1.40 p.m., the prosecution named 23 witnesses, including several forensic experts.

Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves said the trial may take around three weeks to complete.

Andre Kirk Everett Hypolite, 33, pleaded not guilty of murdering Anthony Nicholas Dill on December 26, 2004 in the Islands of Bermuda.

Hypolite also denied wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm to Stacy Ann Pike at the same date and time.

The trial continues.
