Rain stops taxi drivers? protest

A planned protest by the Bermuda Taxi Association failed to take place as rainy weather created a huge demand for cabs.
Taxi drivers were set to protest outside the House of Assembly against a bill that would allow limousines to come to Bermuda. Drivers have claimed that the limos will take away some of their business.
The Royal Gazette spoke with BTA president Michael Ray who said: "We were not looking at it as a protest. [We} were going to sit in the gallery and listen."
He added rain always resulted in "helter skelter" for the taxi business.
Mr. Ray said that he was listening to the debate in his car to make a decision on what will take place.
