A man alleged to have brandished a machete and made threats will face trial later this month.

Roger Lightbourne, 38, is said to have behaved in a threatening manner in Pembroke on September 29.

Crown counsel Paula Tyndale told Magistrates? Court yesterday that Lightbourne brandished the weapon and shouted: ?You are threatening my son. I would like to kill you. I?m a killer and I?m going to send you home in a box.?

Lightbourne, of Sound View Road, Sandys, pleaded not guilty to the charge. His case was set for trial on November 29, and Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted him bail.

Lightbourne then went on to plead guilty to a separate matter ? possessing a pipe for the use of a controlled drug in Pembroke on June 23.

Ms Tyndale said Police officers had attended a report of an attempted robbery at the junction of Court Street and Victoria Street at 12.25 a.m. on that date. They were looking for a suspect when they saw Lightbourne leaving the Swinging Doors nightclub.

When they searched him they found a number of items upon his person, including a spoon, rubber tube and a container with two syringes in it. These items later tested positive for heroin or cocaine. Lightbourne told Mr. Tokunbo that he has been clean from drugs for nine weeks and asked for ?some encouragement? from the court.

Fining him $500, Mr. Tokunbo replied: ? We have to give the court and the community encouragement that you are going to start being responsible. We are watching.?
