Sex crime cops link nine cases

Police hunting a possible serial sex attacker targeting lone women in their homes are now investigating nine linked offences. Officers have previously confirmed that one man may be behind six potentially linked sex assaults on the Island.

They have yet to make an arrest in the case. But detailed analysis by detectives has subsequently revealed that there have been at least nine offences reported where a male intruder has broken into a woman?s home.

Ch. Insp. Paul Wright, crime manager with the Bermuda Police Service, said some of these nine cases involved a woman being confronted in her property.

Some had seen the victim subject to an assault of a sexual nature, he added, while confirming the nine cases related to incidents reported between March and December last year. Complaints came from women in the Southampton, Warwick and Paget areas.

And he revealed that Police had not identified a linked offence since the start of December, raising the possibility that the prowler may be in jail or has left the Island. Ch. Insp. Wright said: ?There are still productive lines of inquiry and they are being investigated. But we have not had no further linked offences for two months now.?
