Two men have appeared in court and admitted separate drink driving charges.

James Reen was pulled over by Police patrolling the junction of Middle Road and South Road, Southampton, on April 8.

Crown counsel Anthony Blackman said on Tuesday the bike failed to stop at a sign on South Road and was not moving in a straight line.

When stopped, the defendant was asked if he was ill, on medication or had been drinking. Mr. Blackman said Reen told Police he had been drinking earlier.

Reen, of Beach Road, Sandys, admitted driving while impaired. He told Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner he was sorry about the incident.

Mr. Warner fined the 34-year-old $1,000 and banned him from driving all vehicles for one year.

In another case on Wednesday, Alan James Stevenson was before Mr. Warner for drink driving, dangerous driving and failing to stop for Police.

Mr. Blackman said the defendant was spotted heading out of a Hamilton parking lot onto Bermudiana Road. He was not driving in a straight line, the court heard, and nearly hit a parked car.

After a brief struggle, Stevenson was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station. The day after the incident he went back to the station and apologised for his behaviour. He told them he was confused and was unsure what his rights were.

In court he said his actions were ?completely out of character?.

Stevenson, 40, of Orchard Grove, Southampton, admitted drink driving, dangerous driving and not stopping for Police, all on May 6 in Pembroke.

He was fined a total of $2,000 and banned from all vehicles for one year.
