Trenching will disrupt traffic in the west end today
The Ministry of Works and Engineering is notifying the public that Belco will be undertaking trenching works on Middle Road just west of Manse Road in Paget.
The trenching works will begin today at 7 a.m. and are scheduled to be completed by 7 p.m. tomorrow. There will be some minor road traffic measurements in place but two-way traffic will still be maintained.
The Ministry advises the motoring public to be vigilant and approach these works with caution, or avoid this section of Middle Road if possible.
This Ministry apologises for any inconvenience for the road closure and requests that motorists cooperate with the traffic control devices in this area.
Premier leads switch to CFL lights
Premier Ewart Brown is urging people to change to energy saving light bulbs as part of tonight's Earth Hour.
People are being asked to switch off their lights from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. as part of a global move to reduce carbon emissions this evening.
The Premier is asking that when they switch them back on again, they should be compact fluorescent bulbs.
"Earth Hour is the perfect opportunity for Bermudians to make the switch to compact florescent light bulbs if they have not already," said Dr. Brown.
"If you're turning off a regular light bulb this weekend make sure when you flip the light back on it's a compact florescent light bulb. That way the temporary gesture you're making on Saturday night is really a long-term commitment to a sustainable development."
Compact florescent light bulbs last ten to 20 times longer than a regular light bulb, use 75 percent less energy and produce much less heat than an incandescent bulb, according to Tom Nelmes, Vice President of HWP's Electrical Division.
Rider in collision with bus

Around 8.05 p.m. on Thursday, Police attended the reported road traffic collision on North Shore Road near the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo involving two buses and a motorcycle.
The motorcycle was travelling west on North Shore Road behind one bus and the other bus was travelling east.
The man attempted to overtake the bus he was riding behind and as a result, collided with the side of the oncoming bus and the rear of the bus he was trying to overtake.
The man was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of a broken left leg.
