Jordan's Loving gesture!
Images of children with cancer on TV motivated a girl to grow her hair so it could be made into wigs.
Jordan Loving, seven, will make a real difference in the lives of children, who lose their hair due to cancer treatment or the disease known as alopecia.
Locks of Love, an organisation which creates the wigs from hair, will receive the generous donation — hair so long she had to make sure not to sit on it — from Jordan.
She said: “Jesus gave me so much hair and when I saw these children without hair I wanted to donate it to them.”
Her grandmother, Mary DeSilva, accompanied Jordan to the hair salon, Images Design, and seemed relieved the day had come for Jordan’s donation.
She said: “She’s seven and a half going on 20.
“She never wanted me to cut it before but she knows what she wants and we did ask her dad who said if she wanted to do it she could.
“I’m relieved because I have to wash it and it takes me 15 to twenty minutes to redo her hair every morning.”
Jordan also hopes cutting her hair will stop the headaches she has been getting because of the weight.
After the hair dresser Kristen Simons cut the fours braids, a smile broke out on Jordan’s face and she kissed her hair good-bye. Jordan added: “My friends are really excited to see me with short hair.”
If anyone would like to donate their hair to Locks of Love, Annette Cook helps those in Bermuda by collecting it and then sending it in one package with Fed Ex, which does it for free.
