Major project on to repair schools' water tanks
Government is advising the public that major building works to repair water tanks at six schools have been taking place since Wednesday and are scheduled for completion by the first week in March.
The advisory came from the Building Maintenance Division and the Ministry of Works of Engineering. The schools affected are: West Pembroke Primary School (five tanks), Northlands Primary School (two tanks), Somerset Primary School (three tanks), Purvis Primary School (one tank), Paget Primary School (one tank) and Prospect Primary School (one tank).
In order to minimise disruption at the schools, repair work is being carried out between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. on weekdays, Government said, and between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on the weekends.
The Ministry said it recognises that the tank cleaning initiative may cause an inconvenience to area residents and therefore is asking for their co-operation and patience while its construction crews undertake these necessary works.
Parents of students at the identified schools and members of the public are invited to contact Myron Burchall, Assistant Buildings Manager at the Prospect Maintenance Depot on 292-2500 should they have any questions regarding the tank cleaning.
