Report ordered on man who had cannabis

A Hamilton Parish man admitted to charges of possession of cannabis on Wednesday in Magistrates' Court.

Brian Martin, 21, of Bailey's Bay, pleaded guilty to possession of 1.08 grams of cannabis.

The court heard from Crown counsel Nicole Smith that on July 7 Police spotted Martin standing in the drive way of Rangers Cricket Club.

When Martin saw the Police car, he reached into his pocket and dropped an object by his right foot.

Police reported that the area was very brightly lit therefore the object was noticeable. Police found the object and saw it was cannabis.

When Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner asked Martin about the matter, he replied: "I don't want this to go on my record as I am trying to go to school."

But the Magistrate said: "You know the repercussions of your actions but you are doing drugs."

Martin stated: "I'm very sorry sir. I've learned from my mistake, I ain't gone let it happen again."

Mr. Warner ordered a social inquiry report before sentencing.
