Trust gets new director

The Bermuda National Trust has appointed a veteran conservationist as its new executive director.Jennifer Gray, currently Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan Coordinator for the Department of Conservation Services, takes over the role vacated by businessman Derek Morris, on January 2. Ms Gray has served as a Council Member for the Trust and so already has knowledge of the workings of the organisation.Trust President Bill Holmes said: "We are decidedly lucky to have Jennifer join us as Executive Director. Her commitment to Bermuda and its unique heritage and her boundless knowledge of Bermuda's biodiversity, make her the perfect candidate for the job. We look forward to welcoming her in January."

Ms Gray is well known on the Island for her work as Coordinator of the Bermuda Turtle Project and as Head Aquarist at Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo.

Born in Bermuda, she has also served as President of the Bermuda Audubon Society, Co-Chair of the Environmental Coalition, Chair of the Marine Environmental Committee, and has been instrumental in the Buy Back Bermuda Campaign.

Mr. Morris, CEO of Bermuda Incentives and Conventions, resigned as executive director in September after eight months in the post. He said the decision to leave was mutual, adding: "The job was not my thing."
