Collector of Customs Mr. Gerry Ardis confirmed that the yacht had been confiscated "under the provisions of the Revenue Act''.
It will remain on Number Seven Dock until certain legal matters concerning the seizure were cleared up, he said. Suzy will most likely then be put up for auction.
It is understood the yacht was bought second-hand by a Florida resident who has local relatives and sailed down to Bermuda last year.
The regular duty on yachts that size is 55 percent and the owner must pay it within six months.
Mr. Ardis declined to reveal the value of the yacht.
