The incident happened at 5 a.m. when the victim awoke on hearing the intruder searching around her bedroom in her Devonshire home.

A Police spokesperson said: "She attempted to run for help but was stopped by the intruder who then demanded her wallet.

"She gave the man her wallet and he ran out of the house.'' The spokesperson added that though the woman was not injured, she was badly shaken by the ordeal.

DRIVER BANNED CTS A 29-year-old Hamilton Parish man was fined $400 in Magistrates' Court yesterday for driving while impaired.

John C. Davis, of Stone Haven Road, pleaded guilty to the offence, which occurred on October 17.

Prosecutor Sgt. Kenrick James told the court that at 2 a.m. on that day Police officers saw Davis driving on Kindley Field Road. "They saw him swerving off the road,'' Sgt. James said.

"When officers stopped Davis he told them that he had had three beers. They also noticed that he was unsteady on his feet and his speech was slurred.'' A breathalyser test showed that Davis had 126 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Davis $400 and disqualified him from all vehicles for 12 months.

EXPENSIVE DRINK CTS A 46-year-old man who was seen drinking rum in Par-La-Ville Park was fined $100 in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

George M. Palmer pleaded guilty to drinking liquor in public.

Prosecuting, Sgt. Kenrick James told the court that on October 28 at 11.05 a.m. Police on foot patrol saw Palmer hiding behind the Bermuda Library.

"One of the officers went into the library where he could see Palmer and some friends,'' Sgt. James said.

"The officer watched Palmer as he drank from a brown paper bag before passing it to a friend who concealed it in his pants.'' GIRL INJURED AC Police are appealing to a woman involved in a road accident which left a schoolgirl with an injured foot.

The 12-year-old girl was hurt while on a pedestrian crossing outside Berkeley Institute when a car reportedly rolled over her foot.

Although the driver stopped to inquire about her condition, she drove away before giving her details to Police.

They are asking the driver to contact Police Constable Sean Mullan.
