when a magistrate alowed him to continue his livelihood after he admitted driving while impaired.

Llewellyn Jones 46, breathed a sigh of relief after being fined $600 and disqualified from driving motorcars for twelve months. Jones admitted that he had been driving while impaired by alcohol in St. George's on August 28.

Sgt. Peter Giles, prosecuting, told the court Jones, of Spanish Point Road Pembroke, crashed his car into the back of another vehicle that had stopped on Wellington Road.

When Police arrived they found he was unstable and his breath smelled strongly of alcohol.

A breathalyser test revealed he had 187 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.

Jones, a bus driver for 24 years, was visibly upset. "It was a very unfortunate incident,'' he said.

He asked Acting Magistrate the Wor. Charles-Etta Simmons if he would still be allowed to drive a bus because that was his livelihood.

After some searching through the statue books and consultation with Sgt.

Giles, Miss Simmons returned her decision.

"Mr. Jones, your persistence has paid off,'' she said, "due to changes in the law I disqualify you from driving all motorcars for 12 months and fine you $600.''
