woman's home and sexually assaulting her nearly two years ago, has appealed his conviction.

Andrew Robinson, who was fired from his job with the Bermuda Police Service last December, is today out on bail until the appeal is heard before the Supreme Court.

At his brief court appearance in Magistrates' Court yesterday, his lawyer Mr.

Delroy Duncan said he intended to appeal his client's conviction and asked that the sentencing be stayed pending the outcome.

Robinson was found guilty last December and was relieved of his duties as a constable.

He had been suspended on full pay since the charges surfaced after the July 25, 1993 incident.

It took 31 separate Magistrates' Court appearances before the guilty verdict was finally reached.

During his last appearance, Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl Ann Mapp, said she was satisfied that the Crown discharged its duty.

Reading from her lengthy judgment, Mrs. Mapp said she "rejected the defendant and his witnesses'' which included several Police officers.

The woman, who returned to Britain after her two days of testimony, was in court yesterday for the sentence.
