running a stop light and nearly causing a collision, was fined $1,000 yesterday and put off the road for a year.

Perry Goater admitted failing to stop for Police last September 25, driving in a manner dangerous, and driving while disqualified.

Prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said Police saw Goater driving a car on Reid Street and knew him to be off the road.

They activated their siren but he refused to stop and fled, running a red light on Court Street.

He overtook a car on North Shore and sped along Parson's Road and Glebe Road where he cut across another car causing them to slam on brakes.

Sgt. Grant said Police had exceeded speeds of 90 kph chasing Goater.

Goater got out of his car on Robert's Avenue and ran, but Police followed and caught him. The Court heard he was off the road until next month.

Magistrate the Wor. Charles-Etta Simmons told Goater he had put the public's life in jeopardy with his "foolish behaviour.'' She fined him $150 for failing to stop, $500 for driving while disqualified and $350 for driving in a dangerous manner. She also put him off the road for a year.
