When the property came under new ownership in 1992 Mr. Jefferis became a consultant and the owner's representative.

General Manager Ingo Schweder said: "Mr. Jefferis' guidance and counsel over the past year during the changeover from the previous management team has proved of great assistance for me and all the Rafael Group.'' William Guthrie, director of finance at Elbow Beach, will succeed Mr. Jefferis in addition to his other duties.

TEACHER PROBE SATISFIES PTA EXEC ED Teacher probe satisfies PTA exec Executive members of Whitney Institute's PTA are satisfied with the way school officials are handling a case of alleged misconduct by a teacher.

The executive and the Board of Trustees met this week after a female student wrote a letter on December 12, alleging improper behaviour on the part of the teacher, who was subsequently suspended while the allegations are being investigated.

The meeting -- which was not open to non-executive PTA members -- was held to deal with the issues arising from the allegations.

President Jennifer Bascome said the PTA executive was satifisfied with how officials were dealing with the issue, but added the group would not be commenting further until "the matter goes through the proper channels''.

CITY TESTING NEW OIL SPILLS TREATMENT GVT City testing new oil spills treatment Oil spills are being mopped up with a new substance being tested by the Corporation of Hamilton.

Recently the Corporation brought in the hydrocarbon-based material from the US to use instead of sand.

The granule-like substance is spread over the oil spill soaking it up. It is then brushed off and dumped.

Corporation secretary Roger Sherratt said it had been used several times and had proved to be successful.

"We are very pleased with the way it is working and if it continues to work well we will continue to use it,'' he said.

POLICE PATROL CAR INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT AC POL Police patrol car involved in accident A Police car was involved in a traffic accident while en route to answer an emergency call.

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said the car was travelling to the scene of a two-vehicle accident in Sandys on Wednesday morning.

The two-vehicle accident occurred on Malabar Road and involved a grey Toyota Starlet, driven by a 28-year-old Sandys woman, and a blue Honda motorcycle ridden by a 42-year-old Pembroke man.

No one was seriously hurt.

Mrs. James Barnett said the Police car was racing east to the scene, with its emergency equipment on, when it collided with a silver Subaru car driven by a 34-year-old Southampton woman.

No one was injured, she added. The Police car received scratches to its doors while the other car's bumper was ripped off and there was damage to its door and fender.

POLICE INVESTIAGET SPATE OF BREAK-INS CRM Police investigate spate of break-ins Police are investigating a series of break-ins which took place this week.

Spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said an employee of World Distributors, on Par-La-Ville Road, reported someone broke into the business between 8.40 p.m.

on Tuesday and 7.30 a.m. on Wednesday and stole a $300 Yamaha V50 auxiliary cycle seat.

In a separate incident, the groundsman at Southampton Rangers Club on South Road, Southampton told Police he discovered several bottles of alcohol and bags of chips missing when he turned up for work at the club on Wednesday morning.

Also sometime between 11 a.m. and 9.30 p.m. on Wednesday, a Cedar Hill, Warwick residence was broken into and a metal money box was stolen.

Mrs. James Barnett said the box contained "a substantial amount'' of US and Bermuda cash.
