Christopher Ronald Maughn of Colony Valley, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to driving his boat with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood and speeding.

The offences occurred on August 14, 1994.

Prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant, said a Police marine launch went to a boat accident that took place off North Shore, Pembroke.

Another boat towing a 15-foot vessel met the launch and flagged it down off Spanish Point.

Police were told there had been an accident and two people had been injured.

One had head injuries, while the other had cuts to his face.

Both were taken to hospital.

Police noticed that Maughn appeared unsteady on his feet and his breath smelled strongly of alcohol. A breath test revealed he had 169 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

In a separate matter, in St. George's, Maughn pleaded guilty to navigating a boat 100 metres from the shoreline at more than 5 knots.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis, fined Maughn $250 for drunk driving and $100 for speeding.
