Lashing out at Opposition Leader Mr. Frederick Wade's sneak preview of the PLP's election platform at a Sandys Rotary meeting, Labour and Home Affairs Minister the Hon. J. Irving Pearman said: "One can only express disappointment after telling the public they would be ready for the election.

"They have only been able to get seven points out on the eve of the election.'' Mr. Pearman, who attacked most of the points made by Mr. Wade, said the Rotary meeting would have been an excellent time for the PLP to explain its tax policy.

Referring to the PLP's plan to create a Ministry of International Business "to communicate with the industry'', he said the UBP had proven it was able to strike a balance between the needs of international businesses and Bermudians.

Pearman added -- responding to the PLP's plan to "rebuild the tourist industry''.

He said as a result, accountability increased in the Tourism Ministry and hotels, which spent millions to upgrade their facilities, were given tax breaks.

Health and Social Services Minister the Hon. Quinton Edness accused the PLP of showing "contempt for the electorate'' by slamming Government's health care review.

Noting that PLP Warwick West candidate Dr. Ewart Brown called Government's review an imitation of Hillary Clinton's plan, Mr. Edness said Bermuda already had in place many of the things now being proposed in the US.
