accusing the entire United Bermuda Party of lacking integrity at a recent seminar.

But she in turn accused Public Safety Minister Quinton Edness of twisting her words.

During the debate on taxi fare increases on Friday, Mr. Edness said: "In almost 30 years of often heated debate I've never heard a member accuse another of not having integrity. The member painted all members on this side of the House with a very broad brush.

"It's comments like that that bring this entire House into disrepute,'' he added.

Speaker Ernest DeCouto also expressed concern with Ms Webb's comments, saying he was disturbed by the use of words such as hypocrisy and integrity.

Ms Webb later clarified her remarks to The Royal Gazette , saying she attended a recent diversity seminar of about 95 people at the Bermuda College.

Participants said their chief concern about life in Bermuda, from topics ranging from crime, drugs, domestic violence, was integrity of politicians.

Considering the appearance of conflict of interest with Minister of Transport (Wayne Furbert) owning a mini-bus operation yet having control over his main competition, the taxi industry, "all I said was it's understandable,'' she said.

"Quinton Edness turned it all around, saying I said those things,'' said Ms Webb.
