P.c. Gary Venning will help her run the Community and Media Relations department.

The appointments were announced yesterday by Police Commissioner Lennet (Lennie) Edwards.

Sgt. Jones takes over on Monday from Sgt. Dale, who has been in the media department 21 months.

It marks a return for Sgt. Jones, who left the department about two years ago.

She has been in the western division of the Police.

Mr. Edwards praised the "sterling work'' of Sgt. Dale.

"I would like to thank him very much for the services he has given us,'' he said.

"He is moving to another area of the Police. As you know it is a transferable force and we move officers about.'' Mr. Edwards said Sgt. Dale's role had involved more than handling the media.

He had also been on the Emergency Measures Organisation, offering Bermudians advice on how to cope with disasters such as hurricanes.

Sgt. Dale was also on a committee looking into recommendations for the Police by Judge Stephen Tumim.

"I give him my heartfelt thanks for all the personal service he has given me,'' said Mr. Edwards.

Mr. Edwards added Sgt. Dale was being moved to the Police complaints department.
