Opposition Leader Mr. Frederick Wade said yesterday.

He called Sir John Swan a "desperate man making desperate statements to try and save a desperate party''.

Mr. Wade was reacting to the Premier's claim that the PLP had a "hidden agenda'' including income tax, nationalised hotels, a casino and a Bermuda airline.

None of these were PLP policies, Mr. Wade said. Voters should keep "cool heads'' and read its platform.

"Sir John has been advised, I suppose, that if you trot out a lie often enough people start to believe it.'' "Don't allow fear caused by the Premier's hysterics to influence you. "The Premier knows that he's never heard us talk about income tax. If he has a figure it must be his own figure.'' If the Premier had worked out a tax percentage, maybe he was planning it, said the Opposition leader.

Former UBP leader Sir Henry Tucker brought an income tax bill to Parliament, Mr. Wade recalled.

And the hospital levy had gone up from three percent on some incomes to five percent on some incomes.
