Monique Rochee Cook vanished from her grandmother's Paget home after she returned from school last Friday.

The secondary school student is described as approximately five feet 10 inches and brown skinned with shoulder length hair.

Family members who are very concerned for her safety are appealing to the public for assistance in locating her, Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning reported yesterday.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the missing girl should contact Police at 295-0011.

THIEVES HIT SANDYS SECONDARY SCHOOL CRM Thieves hit Sandys Secondary School Police are investigating two break-ins that took place earlier this week.

A Panasonic cassette player and a small amount of cash were taken from Sandys Secondary School during a break-in on Tuesday night.

A restaurant on South Road in Warwick was also targeted on Tuesday night.

Thieves reportedly forced open a freezer at the restaurant and removed some steaks, lobsters, and salmon.

FINED, DISQUALIFIED FOR THREE YEARS CTS Fined, disqualified for three years Charged with impaired driving and failing to provide a breath sample, a Devonshire man claimed a slippery shoe sole contributed to the accident which then lead to the charges.

Oscar Leroy Franklin, 64, noting he had just come from helping a friend feed a horse, said the bottom of his muddied shoe must have caused his foot to slip off the brake pedal.

Franklin was attempting to turn into the MarketPlace parking lot on Church Street on December 27, 1994 when he collided with another vehicle.

Senior Magistrate his Wor. William Francis, fined Franklin $500 and disqualified him from driving all vehicles for three years.

On February 7, 1992, Franklin had appeared before Mr. Francis on similar charges. At that time he was fined $400 and disqualified from driving all vehicles for 12 months.

DATE SET FOR TRIAL INVOLVING ASSAULT CTS Date set for trial involving assault Charged with assault and causing bodily harm, Tillman Donaque Darrell, 28, will appear in Magistrate's Court on May 18 for trial.

Darrell pleaded not guilty to the charges yesterday.

Police Prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said the prosecution intends to call four witnesses.

PAGET MAN DISQUALIFIED FOR TWO YEARS CTS Paget man disqualified for two years A 44-year-old man lost his driving privileges for two years and was fined $600 in Magistrates' Court yesterday after pleading guilty to impaired driving.

Edward Chesterfield Swan was westbound on South Road, Paget, when he collided head-on with a livery cycle at the Middle Road intersection after failing to stop at the lights, according to police prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant.

The driver of the cycle, a Belgian national, sustained a broken pelvis and a groin laceration and spent several days in hospital, added Sgt. Grant. The accident occurred on November 19, 1994.

Swan's blood alcohol level was measured at 200 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres, over twice the legal limit of 80.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. William Francis, said beer bottles were found inside Swan's vehicle and questioned the man as to whether or not he had been drinking while driving.

Swan denied drinking while driving.

Swan had been fined $350 and disqualified all vehicles 12 months for a similar offence in 1989.

MAN LANDS IN HOSPITAL AFTER FIGHT CRM Man lands in hospital after fight A fight on Union Street landed a Pembroke man in hospital this week.

Police said they attended the Union Street area around 11 p.m. on Wednesday night after receiving a report of an assault.

They found a 38-year-old Pembroke man laying on the sidewalk with serious facial injuries.

The man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was detained overnight.

Police believed the injuries were received following a fight with several men.

FINED FOR THREATENING BEHAVIOUR CTS Fined for threatening behaviour A 45-year-old man pleaded guilty to charges of having a machete in his possession and threatening behaviour.

Terry Edwin Robinson was fined $150 for each charge by Senior Magistrate the Wor. William Francis in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said the charges stemmed from a September 30, 1994 incident where Robinson was attempting to get a van moved from the Windsor Place parking lot.

Robinson said he was spoken to in a derogatory manner during an exchange between himself and two other men whom he requested move the van.

He said he held the machete at his side but, according to Mr. Frances, the defendant "may have been agitated and insulted but getting a machete...was totally unwarranted.'' Robinson was given until February 3 to pay the fines.

MAN PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO DRUG CHARGE CTS, Man pleads not guilty to drug charge A Warwick man plead not guilty in Magistrates' Court yesterday to a charge of cocaine possession.

Swain E. Lightbourne, 28, will appear for trial on March 13.

The charge stems from an incident in Warwick on July 16.

US FIRM SUING THE BARGAIN CENTRE CTS US firm suing the Bargain Centre An American firm is suing the Bargain Centre for almost $10,000 claiming the Court Street business failed to pay for a consignment of goods.

The writ was filed in the Supreme Court diary on January 24.

Mr. Dennis Dwyer of Hector and Associates, said the matter is 12 months old.

The American firm, Robinson Knife Company, is suing for $9,852.
