Dr. Saul was speaking to The Royal Gazette shortly after addressing the annual general meeting of the UBP's central council last Thurday night.

He said he had told UBP members how grateful he was for their efforts over the year.

"I thanked the grassroots supporters and the party chairman for their unflagging support for what was a difficult year for the party.'' Dr. Saul, however, said it had been a good year as far as legislation was concerned.

"There has been some excellent legislation and I look forward to the coming year.'' At last week's meeting, Gary Pitman was returned as UBP chairman.

Returned as deputy chairmen were Elroy Ratteray, Ralph Richardson, Glennis Dickinson and David Sullivan. Michael Dunkley replaced Ken Spurling as the fifth deputy chairman The new treasurer is Gregory Haycock, who replaced Christopher Whittle, while Ronny Viera was returned as secretary.
