"I can't do anything for you and I am not about to try to convince you that I can,'' Mr. Griffiths said in a poster that appeared recently.

"The difference between me and the other politicians is, I know I can't do anything for you and they will not do anything for you.'' Mr. Griffiths, 44, who writes a column for the Mid-Ocean News , said the poster was a joke, but he did not rule out an independent candidacy in St.

George's South.

"Maybe I will run,'' said the St. David's native, who now lives in Devonshire. "I'll see if I get any feedback.'' Mostly, he wanted to show he was "fed up'' with what he saw as empty promises by candidates from all three policital parties, as well as one Independent MP who he would not name.

He believed many Bermudians were tired of politicians "talking out of both sides of their mouths, and never answering any questions.'' In his poster, Mr.

Griffiths said party politics were "a thing of the past,'' and MPs should vote according to their consciences.

"I am not from a privileged background,'' he said. "I know what it is to suffer, I know what it feels like to be homeless, I know the frustration of trying to have my voice heard and no one really listening.

"More importantly, I care.'' The poster advises voters: "Remember, when you go to the polls, vote for me because I can't do anything for you.''
