Boyles, 53, of Union Street Pembroke admitted punching Harry Landy in the mouth causing him to lose two teeth.

The incident occurred April 8 at the Spinning Wheel night club on Court Street.

Boyles who is a security guard at the club, refused entry to Harry Landy because the club was full that night.

Landy is reported to have attempted to push his way in causing Boyles to retaliate.

"I was just doing my job,'' Boyles told the court. "I told him (Landy) that he couldn't come in and then he was grabbing me. He ripped my shirt.

"I got tired of putting up with his ignorance -- that boy is a public nuisance.

"I gave him one blow and went back to my door.'' MAN DISQUALIFIED FOR DRUNK DRIVING CTS Man disqualified for drunk driving A Hamilton Parish man who pleaded guilty to having almost twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood, was fined $400 and disqualified from all vehicles for 12 months.

Police reported seeing Ewart Sinclair James, 47, driving erratically south on Trimingham Hill in a car.

He was seen swerving across the middle line nearly striking the centre island.

Police stopped him and found him to be unsteady on his feet and smelling of alcohol.

Tests revealed he had 199 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

AN EXPENSIVE CARTON OF CIGARETTES CTS An expensive carton of cigarettes A Pembroke man was fined $50 for stealing a $32 carton of Marlboro cigarettes from the Hamilton MarketPlace.

Kirk Douglas Wheatley 38, admitted the shoplifting charge that occurred on September 18.

A customer saw Wheatley putting the cigarette carton in a brown paper bag. She told the manager who spotted Wheatley taking the elevator to the ground floor.

He followed and met Wheatley in the parking lot.

Wheatley initially denied stealing the cigarettes and said he had already paid for them.

Police were called, and Wheatley admitted taking the cigarettes though he said he did not intend to steal them.

MAN FINED $450 FOR RESISTING ARREST CTS Man fined $450 for resisting arrest A Southampton man who obstructed and violently resisted a Police officer was fined $450 in Magistrates' Court this week.

Ronae Burgess 19, of Scenic Heights, was reported to have committed the offence during the early morning hours of June 18, in Southampton.

Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl-Ann Mapp told Burgess to stay off the streets late at night.

"Get your rest at home,'' the Magistrate said. "You don't have to be on the streets at that hour.'' She fined him $300 for obstructing the Police officer and $150 for violently resisting arrest.

PROBATION FOR ASSAULTING A WOMAN CTS Probation for assaulting a woman A 17-year-old Pembroke man was given 12 months probation for assaulting a woman and driving while disqualified.

Michael Skinner 17, of Cheriton Lane pleaded guilty last month to driving away a motor cycle without permission, driving it while disqualified and driving without third party insurance.

He also pleaded guilty to assaulting Jacklyn Sousa in March.

The court heard that Skinner had been convicted four times in the past year for driving while disqualified.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis gave Skinner 12 months probation for assault and driving while disqualified and fined him $150 for removing a bike.

RIDER FINED FOR TRAFFIC OFFENCES CTS Rider fined for traffic offences Jamal Eugene Lovell was fined $425 and taken off the road for another 12 months for driving while disqualified and carrying a passenger without a helmet.

Lovell, 18, of Pembroke admitted the offences which took place September 25, on Parsons Road.

At that time Police saw Lovell travelling east on a Yamaha V50 cycle. He was spotted after Police noticed his passenger was not wearing a helmet. Police then stopped him and a check revealed he was also disqualified.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Lovell $350 for riding while disqualified and $75 for carrying a passenger without a helmet.

MAN ADMITS STEALING BIKE PARTS CTS Man admits stealing bike parts An 18-year-old Warwick man this week admitted stealing $1,500 worth of bike parts.

Shandon T. Easton, of Khyber Heights, pleaded guilty to the charge in Magistrates' Court.

Prosecuting Sgt. Earl Kirby told the court the complainant, Eunika Daniels, reported her cycle had been stolen from her Southampton home between 5 p.m.

and 10 p.m. on February 25.

The next month Police recovered parts from the cycle in bushes in the Khyber Heights area, Sgt. Kirby said.

A search of Easton's home turn up other parts and he told Police the parts were taken from the cycle while it was in the bushes.

Magistrate the Wor. Charles-Etta Simmons ordered a social inquiry report on Easton and adjourned the case until October 20.

Easton was released on $300 bail with a surety.

ST. DAVID'S MAN FINED FOR CANNABIS CTS St. David's man fined for cannabis A 22-year-old St. David's man received a $700 fine for possessing 4.64 grams of cannabis.

Peter P. Bell of Cashew City Road, admitted possessing the drug when he was stopped by Police on Paradise Road in Smith's.

Bell was riding a scooter and attempted to turn around when he saw Police. He was stopped and searched. The search revealed 12 pay-type envelopes that Bell admitted he had just bought.

Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl Ann Mapp cautioned Bell before passing sentence.

"As long as there are people like you who want to buy drugs there will always be people willing to sell them,'' she said.
