Sinclair Lewis Fox, 46, of Sandys pleaded guilty to both charges in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said officers on duty on Elliott Street noticed flickering lights in a derelict house.

On entering the house they smelt a strong smell and saw the defendant hiding behind a wall, he said.

Fox admitted a pipe lying on the ground was his. A search at Hamilton Police Station revealed a rock which Fox admitted was his.

Tests showed the substance was 90 percent pure cocaine.

Fox, who has a number of previous drugs convictions, was sentenced by Senior Magistrate the Wor. William Francis.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said Bassett led Police officers on a chase until they caught up with him in Somerset.

A breathalyser test showed 166 milligrams of alcohol to 100 millilitres of blood.

"It was less then two years ago that you were before me for the same charge and here you are before me again,'' Senior Magistrate the Wor. William Francis admonished before passing sentence.
