Government Senator Gary Pitman kicked off the congratulations when he praised the children who were recently presented with the Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

Sen. Yvette Swan , the Community and Cultural Affairs Minister, also praised Marie Cross who was the soloist during the recent Bermuda Philharmonic Society concert.

PLP Senator Terry Lister also asked for congratulations be sent to former Bermuda Industrial Union president Ottiwell Simmons who was given a retirement banquet last weekend at the Southampton Princess hotel.

"People were recognising a man who has done so much for this community,'' said Sen. Lister.
