Mrs. Gordon Pamplin charged that regular garbage collection was seeing major delays with trash often not picked up on the designated day.

"This does not leave a good image in the minds of our visitors who often see the roads full with uncollected garbage,'' she said.

Complaining that regular collection has become much slower, Mrs. Gordon Pamplin said: "I don't believe that the taxpayers of this country expect to put their trash out in the morning and return home from work at 6.30 and 7 p.m. and find it still has not been removed.'' Claiming she had called the Works and Engineering to inquire about her garbage collection and was told that there was a problem with several staff calling in sick, Mrs. Gordon Pamplin held that such information should have been made public.

"If this had been made public then at least some people may have taken their bags of trash to the dump themselves,'' she said.

Painting a picture of what she feels could develop this summer, Mrs. Gordon Pamplin talked about disease and general unpleasantness.

Responding to her concerns, Government backbencher Stanley Morton admitted that some problems were being experienced. But he held that most of them were due to people still not being accustomed to their new collection dates.
