`Joy riding' youth receives a break

Wolde Gilbert of North Cote Close, also pleaded guilty to riding a Honda Limited cycle without third party insurance on July 30 last year.
Prosecuting Sgt. Earl Kirby told the court that Gilbert was spotted by Police joy riding in Spanish Point.
"When Police approached Gilbert and asked him where he got the bike, he told them he borrowed it from a friend,'' Sgt. Kirby said.
He added that Gilbert then dropped the bike and he and his passenger tried to run off but were caught by the officers.
Acting Magistrate the Wor. Arthur Hodgson fined Gilbert $100 for driving with no insurance and bound him over for 12 months for removing a cycle.
