Man admits cocaine charge
$500,000 worth of drugs has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
In yesterday's arraignments session in the Supreme Court, Comal Shavon Spence pleaded guilty to handling cocaine on February 22.
Spence, 23, of High Point Road, had earlier been charged with conspiring to import cocaine and possession with intent to supply. Both those charges were dropped following Spence's guilty plea.
Sentencing was deferred indefinitely after defence attorney Richard Hector requested a social inquiry report and Spence was remanded in custody.
Another high-profile case was also processed in yesterday's court session.
Flanagan's restaurant manager Kevin Pollock will stand trial for manslaughter for the second time in December.
The father of two was convicted of the charge in April, following the death of Craig McGavern outside the bar last year. The conviction was later quashed by the Court of Appeal.
But prosecutors are still pushing for a guilty verdict and yesterday Pollock was summoned to court for a trial date to be set. The fresh trial will be held on December 6.
Pollock, who has been a free man since his release from prison in May, was granted bail in the sum of $5,000 with two sureties.
Also in yesterday's arraignments session, Wilfred Matthews was formerly charged with importing diamorphine on May 14. He was also charged with attempting to escape custody and possession of the same drug. He pleaded not guilty to all three counts.
Matthews was released on $15,000 bail with one surety. He will next appear in court on October 1.
Calvin Richardson, 31, of no fixed abode, pleaded not guilty to robbing Donna Simmons of $500 on March 31. Previously in custody, he was bailed in the sum of $5,000 with one surety to appear for trial on November 15.
