after pleading guilty in Magistrates' Court to breaking and entering and theft.

Prosecuting, Insp. Peter Duffy told the court that Earnest J. Smith, 30, broke into a house last Wednesday on Bob's Valley Lane in Sandys.

"The owner of the house left early that morning and when he returned he noticed that someone had entered his home through the bedroom window,'' Insp.

Duffy said.

"Smith had stolen a video cassette recorder and a radio cassette player valued at $1,200.

"Because of suspicion, the owner of the house approached Smith and questioned him about the stolen items which he admitted to taking.'' Insp. Duffy added that Smith also told the man that he had already sold the items for $250.

The man escorted Smith to the Police station where he told Police he used the money to buy food.

He also told them who had purchased the radio which was later retrieved. Insp.

Duffy added that Smith had previous convictions for breaking and entering.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis sentenced Smith to six months in prison.
