a jealous rival in love was fined $800 in Magistrates' Court this week.

Michael Eugene Dillas, a 28-year-old plumber, admitted possessing the offensive weapon when he appeared before the Wor. Charles-Etta Simmons on Monday.

Dillas was arrested last Tuesday in connection with another matter, and was found to be carrying the knife when he was searched prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne said.

He told the Police he needed it to defend himself against a jealous man.

Dillas said he had taken the knife from two men who were involved in a fight on Court Street which, he said, was a move that "made sense at the time''.

Ms Simmons said: "You think it makes sense? They're not here. You're here now, facing a criminal charge.''
