Voters in eight marginal constituencies were being polled by the Governing party this week in what appears to be the major pointer to finalising the election date.

UBP executive officer Mr. Joe Gibbons confirmed that the anticipated favourable result from the key constituencies would influence Premier the Hon.

Sir John Swan's decision next week.

Mr. Gibbons said: "We are, at the moment, conducting another poll. We have been conducting polls throughout the year. "We are basically testing the water. If there is a favourable result then we will put that before the party leader next week and that will be another thing which will help him make his decision.'' A decision next week would point to a likely October 7 election.
