That reflected a drop of 0.6 percent year over year and a drop of 3.0 percent after adjusting for inflation.

More than half of participating general retail stores reported softer sales for the month, with a drop in both domestic and visitor demand.

"The decline in tourist spending directly reflected the drop in visitor arrivals during the month of November, while local demand for big-ticket items such as appliances, furniture and entertainment equipment eased off after a strong performance during the previous month.'' Visitor arrivals in November were off by 8.4 percent from the same month in 1993.

In other sectors, liquor store sales were off by 4.0 percent, while service stations experienced a 1.1 percent decline in receipts.

Overseas spending was up 1.8 percent in November, as overseas visitors reported purchases worth $3.91 million.

ALLEGED JAILBREAKER IN MAGISTRATES CTS Alleged jailbreaker in Magistrates' Convicted sex attacker Brian Carlton Rogers was brought before a Magistrate yesterday in connection with the alleged criminal rampage that followed his sensational prison breakout two years ago.

Rogers, 33, is charged with five offences, including one count of escaping from custody, two counts of trespassing, one count of breaking and entering and one count of robbery.

The charges stem from an alleged crime spree in the days after Rogers' December 1993 escape from the Prison Farm in St. George's.

Rogers, who was in prison for sexual assault and burglary, escaped by climbing through a bathroom window.

He was captured a week later after a dramatic Police chase through Pembroke.

Yesterday, Rogers was remanded into custody until January 31, when he will be required to indicate whether he wants his case tried in Supreme Court or Magistrates' Court.

The case is being prosecuted by Mr. Philip Storr.

MAN ADMITS SEX ASSAULT ON 10-YEAR-OLD CTS Man admits sex assault on 10-year-old A 38-year-old Pembroke man pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court yesterday to sexually assaulting his girlfriend's 10-year-old granddaughter.

The man, who was arrested by Police last February, denied having full intercourse with the girl but admitted licking her breasts and vagina.

The girl, who had been living in the same house as the man for three years, has since been removed by Social Services and placed with her biological mother.

The man was remanded in custody until a social inquiry report can be completed.

"I have nothing to say,'' the man told Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl-Ann Mapp when she queried him on the matter.

"Nothing to say?'' the judge replied. "You are involved with a 10-year-old girl and you have nothing to say? I think I will have a lot to say with respect to this matter. This is a very serious charge.'' The man is to be sentenced by Mrs. Mapp on February 16.

Spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said the CID department, which has been operating from Prospect since September to allow renovations to be completed at Hamilton Police Station, has relocated to Hamilton.

Around 6.30 a.m. on North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish, Police were trying to arrest a 33-year-old Sandys man wanted for questioning about a recent robbery.

A Police officer received cuts to his hands after he tried to disarm the man, who was brandishing a knife.

The man was arrested was in custody yesterday, Police said. Police spokesman P.c. Gary Vending said the officers "would like to thank two taxi drivers who assisted them in making the arrest.'' POLICE INVESTIGATE SOMERSET STABBING CRM Police investigate Somerset stabbing Police are investigating a stabbing which took place on Mangrove Bay Road, Somerset on Monday evening.

Shortly before 9.30 p.m., a 39-year-old Sandys man entered the Somerset Police station with stab wounds to his stomach, Police said.

The man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

It is understood that the man was stabbed following an altercation with another man.

A 36-year-old Sandys man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

AMERICAN IN CUSTODY OF DRUG CHARGES CTS American in custody of drug charges A 33-year-old American man was remanded into custody in Magistrates' Court yesterday after pleading not guilty to possessing cocaine with the intent to supply.

Luis Anthony Molina is scheduled to make his next court appearance on January 31, when his case will be brought up for mention.

His Bermudian co-defendants, 33-year-old Anthony Andre Tuzo and 33-year-old Antoine Anthony Tuzo, were released on $20,000 bail each but required to surrender their travel documents.

All three are charged with handling an estimated $150,000 worth of cocaine.

Their trial is set for February 14.

EARLY MORNING CYCLE FIRE INVESTIGATED FIR Early morning cycle fire investigated An investigation has been launched into a cycle fire that occurred near the Sunshine League on King Street yesterday.

Three firetrucks and a crew of ten responded to the report around 1.30 a.m., a fire department spokesman said.

Damage to the Honda Scoopy was estimated at $1,500.

Four firefighters in one truck also responded to a pole fire around 11.30 a.m.

on Monday at Warwickshire Drive, Warwick.

Damage was estimated at $100. The cause was set down as electrical.
