"When Police questioned Smith he said he had been assaulted earlier and went home to get the knife to protect himself,'' Sgt. Osborne said.

Prosecuting, Sgt. Rex Osborne told the court that on August 22 between 1.30 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. Jahi Butterfield of Bay Lane, Sandys, and another youth removed the cycle which was owned by Astwood Cycles of Sonesta Beach Hotel.

"Police spotted Butterfield in Southampton and stopped him. He admitted to removing the bike,'' Sgt. Osborne said.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Butterfield $300 for removing the bike and $200 for no third party insurance.
