Parking restrictions for road races
weekend in light of two road races which will affect parking and traffic.
There will be eight races in Friday's Bank of Butterfield invitational mile, with the first starting at 7.30 p.m., on Front Street.
Consequently, there will be no parking on Front Street between Bermudiana Road and Spurling Hill from 6.45 p.m. to 10 p.m.
There will be no parking on Front Street, between Queen Street and Seon Lane from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.
Saturday's 10 kilometre race and charity fitness walk begins at 10 a.m. and 800 participants are expected.
The race begins on Montpelier Road, which will be closed from 9.30 a.m. to 10.15 a.m. or until all the racers have cleared the starting area.
Middle Road from Corkscrew Hill to Verdmont Road will be closed from 9.55 a.m.
for about 20 minutes. Frog Lane to Parsons Road will be closed from 9.30 a.m.
until 11 a.m. so the runners can have safe passage to the finish line.
A Police truck will follow the main body of runners. There will also be a sign warning against overtaking which motorists and especially cyclists are asked to observe.
Parking will be disallowed along Frog Lane, Montpelier Road, Gymnasium Road, Flatts Village or Fort Hill Road between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Police will supervise all parking in the Prospect area.
