Smith's Parish woman sustained on Tuesday evening.

The woman, who remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit, was found unconscious by a motorist around 6.45 p.m. on South Road, Smith's -- just west of Paynter's Road in Tucker's Town area.

But yesterday Police said there was nothing to suggest that she had been knocked down by a vehicle.

"From the preliminary investigations, indications are that she may have collapsed and hit her head, thereby causing head injuries,'' Police spokeswoman Sgt. Roseanda Jones said.

P.c. Robert Cardwell is anxious to speak with the driver of a white car and a motor cyclist who were seen passing through the area just before the woman was found.
